David Knijnenburg's
involvement with the Arts began in 1988 when he was a youngtelevision
presenter at World Expo '88 working for NHK Japanese Television.
He followed that by studying a bachelor of Arts/Law at Queensland
University concentrating on drama, linguistics and singing.
He spent several years travelling the globe before settling
in London where he made further study and did theatre, film
and commercial work. David has performed in various theat resin
Brisbane and surrounds including La Boite, Gold Coast Arts Centre,
Sydney Street Theatre, Ipswich Civic Centre, Nash Theatre, Brisbane
ArtsTheatre, Gold Coast Little Theatre, Cremorne Theatre and
Visy Theatre at the Powerhouse. In 2002 David completed work
on the commissioned short film About Face starring Leisa Barry-Smith,
Liddy Clark, Karen Crone, John Dommett, Michael Futcher, Caroline
Kennison and Muriel Watson, which he wrote, directed and in
which he also starred. David worked as producer for the live
link on an American Network TV Pilot and as a dutch politician
on the SBS series (s)truth. He has taught speech and drama for
the Studio Nine Drama School and takes private classes in accent
and dialect. In 2004 he played the role of the Vicar in Twelfth
Night Theatre's smash hit production of Dad's Army, which toured
South-East Queensland and in 2005, New Zealand. He also performed
for Twelfth Night alongside Jon English, Steve Haddan, Chris
Betts and Karen Crone in Run For Your Wife and in October 2006
reprised his performance as Alfred Hitchcock in his Matilda
Award Nominated production Hitchcock & Herrmann as part
of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. His film and television work
includes Scooby Doo ,Virtual Nightmare, Counterstrike, Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle’s The Lost World, Walk The Talk, Stepsister From
The Planet Weird and Deep Impact. He will soon be seen as one
of the leads alongside Lafe Charlton in the short film Deadline
which has been chosen for pre-selection at Cannes.
