Karlo Bran –
MC, Singer, Director
BA in Music and Drama at UQ and BA of Creative Industries (Hons) at QUT majoring
in theatre studies. Credits include West Side Story (Catchment Players), Jesus
Christ Superstar (Altona Theatre), Oklahoma (Ignations), The Marriage of Figaro
(UQ Opera), and Unravelled, a one-man show. Recently in The Kid Knows Somethin’-
2nd instalment of Kid trilogy of one-man cabarets - The Kid Knows Nothin’
was done in 2006. Directing and production credits include: director The Shape
of Things (Underground Productions), Director/ Artistic Director for Melotti
Scalero (SOOB festival 2004.), Director for Sounds & Clowns and Director/
Artistic co-ordinator for Evocations (Collusion Music Ensemble) assistant Director
for Batavia (MAP Theatre) and assistant producer for The Fool’s Journey
(Emerge).
Errol Bray –
Artistic Director, Director, Writer
Extensive experience in creating, administering and directing a wide range of
arts events. A playwright, director and film-maker. Founded World Interplay,
Shopfront Youth Theatre (Sydney), and in 2005 The Emerge Project and has directed
many of its major shows. Also supervisor for the MA program in playwriting at
QUT.
Mel Demarco –
Make up Artist
Involved in the dancing and performing arts industry from an early age. Since
opening Fabu Lash Make Up Artistry her business keeps escalating. She works
in all areas of make up including wedding, formal, port folio to theatre, stage
and themed events. To supplement a make up she likes experimenting with different
materials such as feathers, lashes and diamontes. Some of her credits are Sounds
Boutique Festival 2008, Mazda 2 Launch 2007 and she works with the Mad Dance
House Performance Crews.
Amelia Dowd - Actor
Acting graduate of USQ. Credits include "Macbeth", "Mother Courage
and Her Children", "The Vagina Monologues" and recently as Harriet
Smith in Jane Austen's "Emma". Has been in short films, most recently
“The Prams” with Parry Leader Films. For Emerge - “Perfect
10”; Kathy in “Inmates”; and in “Picnic Playreadings”.
Amelia’s next show is the Queensland Arts Council's production of "Hermes
Goes Environmental". Is represented by Brock Management.
Angela Derighetti
– Dancer
Dancing since the age of 3. Trained in a number of styles including Jazz (at
Dance Fitness International, Sydney), Contemporary Ballet, Musical Theatre,
Cabaret and Hip Hop. Joined the Mad Dance House on their USA tour 06/07 and
trained with top choreographers in Los Angeles and New York City. Received scholarship
from Dance 2xs International to train at Debbie Reynolds studio in Los Angeles.
Currently teaches at Mad Dance House and performs with What Tha Fuss and Della
Vita.
Dr Rhythm - beatboxer
Jonny Grant aka Dr. Rhythm (The Human Drum Machine) has frequently performed
in Qld’s premier clubs and events. Performances include # 1 at 2006 London
Beatboxing Champs and UK semi finalist. Brisbane Bullets time out shows. Performed
with The Living End. Opened for DMC champs Cash Money (USA) & Dj Kentaro
(JPN). Performed at BBQ Breaks 2008.
Is also a session drummer and hosts kids beatboxing birthday parties.

Jane Eppel – Production Associate
Samantha Graham
- Actor
In senior years at school choreographed and performed for Oliver, Tommy - A
Rock Opera and Imagine - A Dance Showcase. Won the Excellence in the Arts Cultural
Award 2007. Winner of QTC’s Young Playwrights Award (2006), and the Young
Playwright’s Program (2007). Previously seen in Yesteryear for the New
Year (Brisbane Arts Theatre). Now in first year of study at QUT (BCI- Drama).
Currently rehearsing for Queensland Musical Theatre’s production of No
No Nanette (Brisbane Powerhouse in June).

Remy Hii –
Actor
Since 2004, has appeared in Emerge Project shows Batavia, Bobby B. Bravo, Getting
Betterer all the Time, Ten by Ten, The Valley People, What's New? and Perfect
10. Also appeared in Advanced Screening (Markwell Presents), and several short
films. This year Remy made his debut with the Queensland Theatre Company in
David Brown’s “The Estimator”.
Bernard Houston – Musical Director
A musician/ composer interested in story telling and regular contributor to
the Emerge Project. Has written music for many theatre and film ventures. Recent
projects include “Voyages and Revelations – a musical odyssey”
at the Judith Wright Centre and a short film “Basic guide to human abduction”
that received first runner up for best film score in the 2007 48-hour Film Competition.
Has also composed music for one feature “Half Lit” that was screened
at the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2004.
Daniel Jess –
Singer
Teaches singing from Kelvin Grove studio - specializes in male voices; currently
studying advanced opera performance; prev. with Opera Queensland and the Arion
Singers and awarded Champion Bass (2008 State Eisteddfod) and given the Burstow
prize; recent credits incl. Glamalot, The King & I and Barber of Seville.
He is also a sought after music director and choral conductor.
David Knijnenburg
– Singer
Began as television presenter hosting a live show for NHK Japan Television at
World Expo ’88. Has appeared in numerous roles on TV, in film and on the
stage, locally and overseas. In 2007 appeared for Emerge as Lonny in Lexie Turns
To Stone, performed in Cats for Harvest Rain, Three Little Pigs for Top Hat
Productions, Carousel for Twelfth Night Theatre, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
for 4MBS Classic Players and as Crabtree in Twelfth Night Theatre’s ‘Allo
‘Allo alongside Gorden Kaye and several of the original television cast.
In 2008 has already toured SE Qld in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest directed
by Tony Bonner. David is a proud member of Actors Equity.
Liana Lee – MC, Actor, Dancer, Singer, Writer, Publicity
Matthew McDowell
– Actor including Dr Doghouse
At 7, performed with Toowoomba Choral Society for five years, Matthew’s
impersonation skills has seen him performing in corporate functions all over
Australia. Graduate of the Actors Workshop and The Actors Conservatory. Productions
include The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Brad), HMS Pinafore, Trial by Jury (Foreman
of the Jury), The Little Mermaid (Captain), The Wicked Wag and Wheel (Weatherbee),
and Valley People (Godfrey). Has appeared on kids' TV show Hot Source (Channel
9), Australian Idol 2006 as Austin Powers, Brisbane Extra (Channel 9) Austar
Channel as Steve Irwin. Recently on Channel 31’s Comedy Skit Shows. In
2007 contracted by Showtime Attractions as the show host “David Seville”
for the launch of the new movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” Hosted
“Caramello Gets Moving” with Abbe Pennell. Continues to work with
Showtime Attractions as a host for a variety of kids shows.
Amanda McErlean – Actor, Singer
Started in children’s television in the 1970s. Played lead roles
in numerous musicals productions including Half A Sixpence, The Pajama Game,
Paint Your Wagon and Camelot. Performed in Agatha Christie’s Murder On
The Nile (Cremorne Theatre,Starbuck Productions), Brave New World Order at the
Powerhouse, Sticky (Brisbane Festival) and La Bamba (La Boite Theatre). Training
includes voice, NIDA short courses, Improbable Theatre (UK). Taught and worked
with the Barbican Theatre and the Theatre Royal. (UK). Short film appearances
include Deadline and Em. Played title role in world premiere of Lexie Turns
To Stone (Judith Wright Centre, Emerge), nominated for Matilda Award for Emerging
Artist (07). Completed 2 month season of Agatha Christie’s The Hollow
(Stage Door Dinner Theatre), played Helen in Patrick Carr’s Brizzie (‘Perfect
10’, Emerge). Proud member of Equity since 2000.
Graham Mitchell
– Writer
Is a retired high school teacher with experience as Stage Manager for a number
of school productions. Has written film reviews for Metro Magazine and Arts
Education. Has written for Brisbane Gang Show and is currently exploring the
joys of poetry, short stories, novel writing and play writing. For Emerge he
wrote “Memorial” for the “Perfect 10” (2007) season.
Jaz Muhling – Poster Designer
Actor, designer, painter and odd-job-er. Bachelor of Theatre majoring in Acting
at JCU. Has worked with Switchboard Arts since 2004, and has performed in several
Map Theatre and Emerge productions.
Elli Papas –
Actor, Singer
BA (drama) at UQ. Past shows include Volpone (Androgyno),Goodnight Desdemona-
Good morning Juliette (Desdemona), Who’s Afraidof the Working Class? (Katina)
and Umpi-Korumba “Many Houses” (QPIXshort film). Musical experience
includes Hell and Highwater (Peisinoye) as well as singing for various jazz
cover bands from 2004-2006. Elli has assistant directed A Season at Sarsaparilla
(UQ) and directed Arcadian Nights for Bugfest 2007 (Underground Productions).
Currently undertaking honours in theatre and film at UQ.
David Rendell –
Actor, Singer (as Ethel Merman)
Actor, writer, director. 28 years experience on stage, film and radio. Has appeared
in shows all over Australia, as well as Europe, the USA and UK. David was Artistic
Director of the Grace Theatre London. In 1982 he came 2nd place in the male
under 16s NSW State Irish Dancing Championship (There were only 2 dancers that
year.) This show sees him in a dress for the first time (in public).
Jessamy Ross –
Actor, Singer, Lyricist
Fifth appearance with the Emerge Project, after Perfect 10 (2007), Con's Spire
(2007) and various roles in the Picnic Playreadings series. Other credits include
the Witches of Eastwick (Turkish Delight; Schonell theatre), Hell and Highwater
(Underground Productions; Schonell Theatre), Beggar's Opera (UQ; Cement Box)
and Season at Sarsaparilla (UQ; Cement Box). In 2007 won "Best Actress"
award in the annual Bugfest short play festival. Recently embarked on vocal
training with Leisa & Jason Barry-Smith and performs regularly with the
cabaret troupe "The Duvets". In final semester of a dual Bachelor
of Arts (drama)/ Bachelor of Business Management degree at the University of
Queensland.
Sherri Smith –
Actor, Singer, Dancer
Has had extensive ballet, dance and sport background. Trained in acting &
fight combat in Brisbane. Recent credits include solo-actor performances of
the stage play adaptation of ‘Animal Farm’ at the Powerhouse, Lady
Capulet in ‘Romeo & Juliet’ in the Shakespeare Festival and
MJ in ‘Mania’ for the 2006 Brisbane Arts Festival. In addition-
TVC’s, voice-over work, and main roles in local film projects.
Daniel White- Mother
Nature
Graduated from USQ acting strand in 2004. Theatre credits at USQ included The
Man from Mukinupin, Hamlet and The Good Woman of Szechwan. Professional credits
include John Gabriel Borkman (QTC), The Reunion (Metro Independents 2007), The
Bugalugs Bum Thief (Queensland Arts Council), Holy Guacamole (Backbone Youth
Arts), and Clown Verona (Woomby), For Emerge in ten-minute play seasons and
Ha Ha Ha Plop.
Melanie Wild - Director
UQ gradute - BA in Drama (Hons) at UQ. Has worked as an actor, director, dramaturge,
production manager, lighting designer, and stage manager for various companies
including UQ Drama, Underground Productions, JUTE, Playlab, Interplay, La Boite
and the National Playwrights Festival.
Astra Wilson –
Production Manager, Singer
Upbringing of acting, singing and dance. Starting in children’s theatre
2007 performed plays, Sleeping Beauty and The Enchanted Forest. Recent performances
include A Murder Has Been Arranged and (for Emerge) Inmates. Has experience
with Stage Managing and Assistant roles on Siren’s Kiss and Con’s
Spire both performed at JWC.
Xavier – Illusionist and Conjuror of the Mind
Fascinated with the psychology of life and the mystery arts, Xavier has chosen
to pursue his passion in Magic and Illusions. Tonight you will see him perform
pieces that blend suggestion, psychology and illusion together to create a wonderful
experience. Currently, he is developing his skills in Psychology and Hypnosis,
which he will test in his last act of the night – you may be the person
he is looking for. Studying a Bachelor of Psychology and Suzuki Theatre Training,
he aims to expand his performance area to the grand stages and theatres around
the world. At this present moment he specialises in mingling entertainment,
having performed for companies such as Westpac Bank; Salt Resort; IGA; Conrad
Jupiter’s Casino, including Hamilton Island and International Amway Conventions.
